26 things I know to be true

I recently turned 26, apart from causing a small quarter life crisis ( I think I’m past the worst of it now ) I decided to also write a list.

The 26 things that I know to be true about life.

  1. I don’t really know if I know much at all. But I know that I know a lot, But There is certainly more that I don’t know.
  2. You must find your purpose, and honour it daily.
  3. Together is always better.
  4. Finding things that are both scary and exciting and doing them make life wonderful.
  5. Radical transparency is key in all successful relationships.
  6. If it is to be then it is up to me – The victim mindset just doesn’t cut it.
  7. Your parents are not perfect, but they were right about most things.
  8. If you fail, then learnt from it. Then you never really failed.
  9. Hangovers steal happiness from tomorrow.
  10. You are completely in control of your life. You can choose to believe that, or not. Either way it’s all your choice.
  11. You can have anything you want. But not everything.
  12. If you can’t cheer yourself up, cheering someone else up will always do the trick.
  13. Growth is not often pleasant at the time. Embrace the suffering. When it is pleasant, embrace the joy.
  14. Everybody can teach you something.
  15. You should know and uphold your values.
  16. Few things in life beat a good hug.
  17. Personal success is driven by the impact you can have on those around you.
  18. Seneca was right, we really do suffer more in our imagination than reality.
  19. Discipline is paramount to success. Do what you told yourself you would do.
  20. Asking better questions is the path to enlightenment.
  21. You are a product of your environment, and your environment is a reflection of you.
  22. If all else fails, stop, smile, face the sun and breathe.
  23. Yoga and meditation are like strength training for the mind.
  24. Strength training is like strength training for the body.
  25. Your standards are only that if you uphold them.
  26. Writing lists are fun. Sharing them with others is funner. Discussing them is funnest.

That’s me. 26 years old and only slightly more enlightened than I was at 25. Who knows what else I’ll realise I don’t know when I turn 27.

  1. It seems one of your major constants over the last 2 years of living is your joy in writing lists ????

What a cool, little experiment to reflect on each year to see your growth. I like this a lot!!!
