Before you achieve anything noteworthy or worthwhile
You must know two things
#1 You need to know exactly where you are now.
#2 You must identify where you want to be
For a lot of us, we struggle with both of these.
I’ve certainly been there. Some days I go straight back
Not spending the time accurately assessing exactly where I am.
Fortunately, objective data doesn’t lie.
You can’t hide from the numbers.
Once you know where you’re at, you can figure out where you are going.
But you might not know where that is, and that’s ok.
You can have all of the ambition in the world without a direction to channel it through.
Eventually, you’ll need to find a way forward.
I’m lucky enough to be able to have sat down with hundreds of people over the past few years
To discuss goal setting.
To talk about achievement.
To dive into meaning and purpose
To talk about how to bridge the gap between where someone is, to where they want to be.
I’ve learnt a few things over those conversations and I truly believe that if you tick these boxes, you’ll get where you want to be.
Your goals must be shaped by your desires
You must ask for help from your allies
You must find a way to help others.
You must know the small achievements you need to reach to hit your big fat audacious goals.
Focus on little things you can do each and every day to move towards your target.
Having a purpose that is bigger than you, ensures that you can always come back to your ‘why’ even when the times get tough.
A quote I love. Paints this picture for me.
“Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance.
Whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him”
Success brings success. Spend time and energy working on what you desire and funnily enough you tend to receive it.
Be amazing.
