TELL US A BIT (A LOT) MORE ABOUT YOURSELF:
My name’s Matthew Harrington and i’m a 20 year old currently studying my third and final year of Bachelor and Sports Science at Deakin University. I play competitive senior soccer at Mornington Soccer Club while also coaching under 3-12’s kids at Kano football academy. I enjoy spending time with my friends and plan on travelling to Europe next year as well as trialing with some soccer clubs in England. Not 100% sure of what job i want post-university but at the moment am largely interested in high performance coaching in soccer.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO SPEND 12 WEEKS WITH THE VIRTUS FAMILY?
I chose to spend the time with the Virtus family for my third year of university placement and improve my coaching ability in a gym setting while growing my knowledge on the prescription of exercise programs for athletes.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
Not entirely sure at the moment, but heading towards high a performance sporting or a Strength and Conditioning coach

Proving others wrong when you’re being doubted and achieving performance goals in life.

Communicating in confidence to larger groups while motivating others. Friendly and approachable and making others laugh.

Occasionally can be a bit shy at first.
