INTERN SPOTLIGHT: STEPH LEE

Why did you choose to spend 12 weeks with the Virtus Family?

I chose to spend the next 12 weeks with Virtus as I need to complete placement required for my university course: Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science / Bachelor Nutrition Science at Deakin University. I also applied for this internship because I think that I would like to do something in this field in the future, however, the only way to know for sure is to try it out. These next 12 weeks will help give me a good indication as to whether I believe this pathway will suit my lifestyle and future enjoyment.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I think that my goal would be to own and run my very own business in the future. I want to be genuinely happy and financially stable enough that I can afford to create and spend valuable time with a family of my own.

What motivates you?

Surrounding myself with people who have similar interests and goals as me. Listening to podcasts about certain life situations that resonate with me. However, I am a believer in discipline > motivation, and I think that is fuelled by me wanting to be the best version of myself.

What are your strengths as a person and coach?

I am an easy person to get along with, which in turn helps me to connect with others. I like to think that I am a fast learner and very adaptable. I enjoy working in a team environment.

What are your biggest stretches as a person and a coach?

My biggest stretches as a person and a coach would probably be feeling socially anxious at times. I also aim to be performing at my best, which naturally doesn’t always happen, therefore I can be self-critical at times.

Favourites:

Book – I’ve only read the books I was forced to read at school, so I don’t have a favourite one. However, I would like to start reading.
Movies – The longest ride
TV Shows – The Vampire Diaries
Hobby – socialising, cooking, exercising, chilling with my many animals
Exercise – BB Back Squat, walking
Quote – “The single most powerful thing I can be is to be myself”
