If you’re anything like me, one of your major motivators for showing up every day and putting in the work is to make the world a better place. This is a worthy ideal, one of the highest order, and if successful, an important contribution to those around you.
The pursuit, that supported by a desire to make the world a better place, is inherently flawed. Not flawed in intent, but flawed in practicality. It is here a caveat exists. That being that you can do all the good in the world, you can give and give and give but if it leaves you with an empty cup, and makes you miserable then you should be doing something else. Regardless of the affect you’re having on the world around you.
“Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive. Because what the world needs most is more people who have come alive” // Howard Thurmann
When you chase the things that set your soul on fire, which make you come alive, then the world as a whole is going to be better off. Imagine a world wherein every single one of us chased down what we loved with such ferocity that motivation would be deemed superfluous.
That is the world i want to live in.
